Hijri Date Converter · تحويل التاريخ

Convert between Gregorian and Hijri dates with Saudi Arabia's Umm al-Qura calendar.

Enter a date to convert.

Batch date conversion

Convert a list of dates at once — paste one per line, then copy or download the results as CSV for Excel or Google Sheets.

One date per line: YYYY-MM-DD or DD/MM/YYYY (Arabic-Indic digits work too). Up to 1,000 lines.

About the conversion

The Gregorian and Hijri calendars do not line up year to year. A Hijri year is 354 or 355 days long — about 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year — so every Hijri date falls about 11 days earlier in the Gregorian calendar each year, and one Gregorian year always overlaps two Hijri years.

This converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, which Saudi Arabia uses for official and civil dates. Religious occasions such as the start of Ramadan and the Eids are confirmed separately by moon sighting and may differ by one day; see Islamic holidays for their expected and confirmed dates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a Gregorian date to Hijri?

Choose “Gregorian → Hijri”, select the day, month and year, and the Hijri date appears instantly with its weekday. Press Copy result to copy it.

How do I convert a Hijri date to Gregorian?

Choose “Hijri → Gregorian”, then select the Hijri day, month and year (AH). The matching Gregorian date and weekday appear below.

Why does it say a Hijri date does not exist?

Hijri months have 29 or 30 days, and in the Umm al-Qura calendar the length of each month is fixed in advance. If you choose day 30 of a 29-day month, the converter tells you instead of silently moving to the next month.

Which calendar does the converter use?

The Umm al-Qura calendar, Saudi Arabia's official Hijri calendar. Dates in countries that rely on local moon sighting may differ by a day.

Can I convert many dates at once?

Yes. Use Batch date conversion below the converter: paste up to 1,000 dates, one per line, and download the results as a CSV file.

What date range is supported?

Hijri years 1356 to 1500 AH, roughly 1937 to 2077 CE.
